I’m available for hire!

Whether you need a speaker for your department’s regular seminars or a second pair of eyes for your company’s DEI practices, I would be thrilled to help you accomplish your goals.

Below are just a few of the subject areas I’m prepared to give a seminar talk or a workshop on, plus some examples of my prior work. I’m also available for one-on-one consulting about your teaching practices or your school’s DEI initiatives.

If you’re interested in working with me, please use the Contact page to inquire about my speaking/consulting fees, or email me at hello@ThatAnnaMarie.com.

  • My Teaching Philosophy 👩🏻‍🏫

Plenty of teachers want to incorporate social justice themes into their material, but they’re not sure how. I just so happen to have years of experience with this, specifically in core chemical engineering courses. Give me an hour and I will show you how I incorporate anti-racism, queerness, and feminist pedagogies into my teaching practice.

  • My #TransInSTEM Story 🏳‍🌈

Given the rising tide of anti-trans legislation and rhetoric, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students face a unique challenge. Many of these students are the only ones in their programs who are like them, and are in need of STEM role models. As someone who successfully transitioned during their PhD program, I would love to share my story with your students to help spread support and positivity.

  • Design Justice Workshops ✊🏻

Are the “Broader Impact” sections of your proposals a bit lacking? Do your colleagues struggle to make the connection between their research and DEI topics? If so, let me help make those connections. After attending one of my design justice workshops, your department/company will have a clear vision for integrating STEM and social justice.

  • Active, Student-Centered Learning 🤝

All instructors should engage their students in active learning. I take it one step further, allowing students to self-direct their own educational experience through co-generative dialogues and semester-long projects. Hire me to learn how you can try it for yourself!

  • Consulting & Program Evaluation 📝

Does your department/company need help developing a DEI initiative? Do you have a DEI initiative, but worry that it’s not meeting its goals? Are you wondering how to support your LGBTQ+ students/colleagues? As someone with years of experience in program development and evaluation (including the Inclusive Excellent JET Program and Queer Science at UConn), I can help!

  • Long Term? 👉🏻👈🏻

I’m on an academic year appointment at UMass, which means I’m on the hunt for summer work. If you want to hire me for a multi-week/multi-month project between June and August, I am available!

Testimonial from a satisfied customer:

Anna Marie LaChance gave an inspiring talk and presentation during the Evonik Queer Alliance for Learning and Support (EQuALS) speaker series, which aims to showcase diverse LGBTQ+ perspectives and voices to Evonik employees in North America and abroad. Evonik is a Germany-based specialty chemicals company, and as a chemical engineer with a passion for diversity and inclusion, Anna Marie was able to genuinely connect with our audience. She shared her personal story about navigating a career as a scientist while coming into her queer identity and shed light on the challenges that trans people face in STEM - which was moving and eye-opening for many of us. We recommend Anna Marie as a speaker to any organization interested in learning about one’s journey and the importance of queer diversity and representation in STEM.
